Russell has been a management consultant for over thirty, working across the government and community sectors with a focus on every aspect of service delivery. His background in counselling, group work, Family Court mediation and family work form an excellent basis for his engagement with a range of stakeholders and his ability to effectively negotiate change. He has developed considerable facilitation skills and has a particular interest in the area of quality improvement, organisational structures, and bringing together key stakeholders for a common purpose. After arriving to Melbourne in 1992, he helped form 'Strategic Partners', a key consulting group focusing on major, long term project with the Federal and State Governments. This especially involved major evaluations, service development, policy analysis and strategic planning.
In recent years Russell has worked extensively with local community organisations on quality improvement, strategic planning, organisational structuring and policy, program evaluation, and service development projects. He is an expert facilitator and has also assisted in developing a number of critical partnership agreements, often aligned to a strategic planning process. His ability to synthesise large tracts of information and succinctly capture the essence of key organisational changes, have been key factors in his consulting success.
In addition, Russell has been volunteering through Indigenous Community Volunteers (now 'Community First Development'), and has worked on organisational and service development projects with approximately 20 communities in the Kimberley region, the Pilbara, across NSW, regional Queensland and Cape York, and a current project with the Mornington Peninsula Aboriginal community and two Blue Mountain organisations in NSW. He has also worked extensively with the African community for many years in Victoria.
