Connections for ‘At-Risk’ Young Refugee People: Making Crisis Supports Work
The Connections for ‘At-Risk’ Young Refugee People: Making Crisis Supports Work conducted during 2009 and continuing in 2010, has identified a number of imrovement initiatives that may achieve better outcomes for young people from refugee backgrounds who are vulnerable or are at risk of disengagement. The project aims to build on existing supports provided to young refugee people in Dandenong and to increase the capacity of services that can support young refugee people in times of crisis and emergency by:
- building the capacity and capability of existing youth support services; and
- enhancing the service system response to provide support to individuals that is inclusive of pre-disengagement, at point of disengagement, in crisis and emergency situations, and in relation to post-crisis support
