Yarra City Council Victoria - Review of Services for Children with Additional Needs

The review of services for children with additional needs in the City of Yarra was undertaken by LDC Group between November 2007 and June 2008. The identified purpose of the review was for Council’s Aged and Disability, and Family and Children’s Services departments to jointly, and in partnership with other organisations, considers how to address service access and related issues experienced by families who have children with additional needs.

The impetus for this project came from Council’s Municipal Early Years Plan and from a review of Council’s HACC Priority of Access Policy. Council’s Municipal Early Years Plan 2005-2007 was managed by Council’s Family and Children’s Services Branch, and identified a number of broad system issues impacting upon children with additional needs living within the Yarra LGA.
