Projects : Quality Framework for Disability Services

Implementation of the Revised Quality Framework for Disability Services

Our team in partnership with the Community Services and Health Industry Training Board worked throughout 2006 and 2007 with the Department of Human Services on piloting and further developing the Quality Framework for Disability Services. The project involved, working with support providers (including SSA), service users, families, training bodies and DHS in developing and piloting systems and tools that could be used to effectively measure outcomes for service users. The work of the pilot project is reflected in the 2007 handbook on the quality framework: Better services, better outcomes, stronger communities. Understanding the Quality Framework for Disability Services in Victoria. A resource Guide for disability service providers

This project included:

  • Development of outcomes measurement tools and resources to support personal outcomes measurement and monitoring.
  • Conducting a pilot of the revised Victorian Standards for Disability Services (the Standards) and quality management tools and resources across one metropolitan and one rural DHS region comprising 19 disability support providers.
  • Participating in an evaluation of the pilot and the effectiveness of the quality management tools and resources.

LDC Group also developed four multimedia newscasts. The newscasts were designed to assist the sector in gaining an understanding of the Quality Framework for Disability Services. The newscasts are available for download from the Department of Human Services Website at: http://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/disability/improving_supports/quality_framework_for_disability_services/knowledge-sharing-and-resources/digital-stories
