DHS Disability Services – Options Paper on Direct Employment of Support Workers by People with a Disability
The purpose of this options paper was to discuss direct employment options that may be applied in Victoria by direct payments service users, including key considerations and risks; and to recommend how preferred options could be further developed and implemented. The paper discussed the range of options available to direct payments service users for the direct employment of their attendant carers, and options akin to direct employment, i.e. hosting arrangements; and key issues to be considered for each option. Information was presented about how these options could be organised and supported under the different models used here in Australia and Overseas.
